1999Spring All reports were later than the recent median arrival dates. Early south 5/3 in three counties, 5/4 Hennepin SC. Early north 5/12 Douglas SDM and Carlton LW, 5/21 St. Louis JN. No south reports after 5/22 Lac qui Parle TT.
1999Fall Only reported from four counties. All north reports: 9/3 Carlton LW, 9/12 Otter Tail SDM, 9/23 Carlton SL. South reports were mostly from Hennepin: 9/5 TT, 9/6 OJ, 9/10–12 SC, 9/19 TT. The one exception was 9/15 Sherburne GS.
2000Spring Reported from 19 south and 10 north counties, and in all regions except northeast. Migration confined to May as expected. Early south 5/3 Hennepin SC, then daily elsewhere through 5/10. Early north 5/6 Otter Tail SDM. Last reported 5/26 Brown JSp and Hennepin TT. Late north 5/20 Otter Tail CMa.
2000Fall Extremely scarce — only five reports: 8/13 (second earliest north) Polk EEF, 8/22 St. Louis RJS, 9/10 Hennepin CRM, 10/11 St. Louis JRN, 10/14 Lake CRM.
2001Spring Reported from 17 south and 7 north counties, but none in the North-central. Early south 4/30 Mower RCK, RDK, 5/1 Hennepin KJB, SLC. Early north 5/8 Traverse JJS, 5/10 Douglas SPM. Late south 5/27 Meeker DMF, 5/29 Lac qui Parle FAE. Late north 5/27 Wilkin SPM, DKM, 5/28 Lake CRG.
2001Fall More reports (17) than last fall (5). Early north 9/12 St. Louis KJB, 9/13 Carlton LAW. Early south 8/22 Hennepin SLC, 8/27 Hennepin ChM, 9/11 Lyon RJS. Late north 10/7 St. Louis NAJ, 10/8 Lake CRM, KEO. Last observed south 9/19 Hennepin TAT, 9/21 Nicollet MJF. On 9/18 during a nocturnal census in Anoka KJB heard at least 12.
2002Spring Reported from 29 south and 12 north counties. Early south 5/4 Hennepin OLJ, 5/6 Hennepin SLC and Pipestone PHS, peak migration 5/10–16 (30 reports). 2004Spring Found in 13 north and 23 south counties. Early south 4/29 Mower JEM, 5/1 Lac qui Parle BJU and Rice TFB. Early north 5/8 Clay GLS, WCM, and five more counties 5/13. Late south 5/26 Scott RMD, 5/27 Carver WCM. Late north 5/21 Cook DRB, 5/22 St, Louis JWL, 5/28 Kittson PHS. Both late dates identical to recent medians. One reported without details 4/18 Todd was more likely a Hermit Thrush — see The Loon 67:44–45 for a discussion of spring thrush migration.
